Working with Walker Morris LLP for over five years, Helen led the client through a significant relocation and change programme. Walker Morris highlighted from the outset that in such a competitive legal market, their premises needed to make an impactful statement about being distinctive, from the exterior, through to the interior detailing, creating a positive impact for both colleagues and clients alike.

Working closely with the project steering committee, an evidence-based, engagement-focused approach was undertaken to ensure buy-in and advocacy was obtained from the outset, and knowing that change in working practice would be a key enabler of the project’s success. Given the traditional nature of the office space Walker Morris had occupied for over 15 years it was clear that change management would be an essential part of the process.

Whilst considering options to stay put, alongside the idea of a wholesale relocation, Walker Morris were looking for a completely new working space that would bring everybody together into one collaborative environment, providing a variety of working spaces which would empower people with choice and control.

Data capture and analysis demonstrated early on that Walker Morris could operate from a significantly reduced footprint, with an initial 25,000 sq ft reduction and a move away from individual traditional offices, which resulted in the final decision to relocate to 33 Wellington Street.

Working closely with the Landlord’s team, some significant changes were made to the building core, which made the floorplates work much harder for the client and created a more collaborative environment.
